Modified Cluster Stitch

The Modified Cluster Stitch
(Multiple of 5, plus 2)

This is a fun stitch for an open weave sweater vest or scarf. Or change colors for each row to make a colorful baby blanket!

To crochet this pattern you'll need to crochet a base chain of any multiple of 5 plus 2 chains.

Row 1: Chain 17.

Row 2: Start a double crochet in the third chain from the hook, but don't finish it.
\

Next, start a double crochet in the next stitch, but don't finish it.

Start a Third double crochet in the next stitch, but don't finish it.

Start a Fourth double crochet in the next stitch, but don't finish it.

Start a Fifth double crochet in the next stitch, but don't finish it.

To close, pull a loop through five of the six loops on the hook. Then yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.

You've just finished your first Modified Cluster!

Next, chain 4 and add another Modified Cluster in the next 5 chain stitches.

Repeat one more time, Chain 4 and add a double crochet in the last stitch (this will be the same stitch that you added your last partial double crochet to.) Chain 2 and turn.

Row 3: Add a Modified Cluster to the first 5 stitches, chain 4, add a Modified Cluster, Chain 4, Modified Cluster, Chain 4, double crochet in last stitch.

Add a partial DC to the first stitch.

Repeat 4 more times.

Pull a loop through the first 5 loops.

Pull a loop through the last two loops.

Start your next Modified Cluster.

Pretty right? I thought so :)

Ok, so try it out, try it with different colors. Become an expert and make tons of baby blankets and such. And tell me all about it on my Facebook page or just Tweet me to say hi. I'm brainstorming new patterns every day and would love your input.
